Your sewing projects

Learning to sew should be enjoyable and interesting. So, you’ll have plenty of freedom to work on

sewing projects that match your interests and goals. You can also ask to be guided to choose

projects that will help you develop and build upon different skills.

In addition to working on patterns and projects supplied by Sew Curious, you can choose to work on

other patterns and projects of your choice.

If you need help or guidance selecting the ideal pattern, all you need to do is ask!

Your teacher

Emily has been sewing dresses, costumes, accessories, décor, and more for almost twenty years,

after first being taught by her Australian mum (a qualified seamstress and a perfectionist).

As an adult, Emily began teaching friends and their kids how to sew. With her nurturing nature,

oodles of patience, and genuine delight at seeing others learn, grow, and become more confident, it

quickly became apparent that teaching people to sew was her dream job!

Emily is excited to welcome you to sewing lessons at Sew Curious and can’t wait to help you reach

the sewing stars.

What to expect

Each lesson, you’ll have the opportunity to make progress on an existing sewing project, or start a

new one.

Emily will take the time to guide you through each project, with a careful balance between helping

and supervising you, and stretching and encouraging you.

The two-hour time slot ensures you have the time to make noticeable progress at each and every

class, while still leaving you refreshed rather than tired at the end.

What’s included

The cost of your sewing lessons covers the use of any and all patterns and fabrics provided by Sew

Curious, as well as use of our sewing machines and other equipment during class time, and, of

course, plenty of one-on-one teaching and attention from Emily.

If you choose to work on a pattern or project that requires fabric we don’t provide (e.g. silk or

leather), you’ll need to supply this yourself. However, you’ll still get the same help and attention you

can expect for any of your projects!

Before your first sewing lesson, Emily will give you a call to discuss your goals and answer any

questions you may have, so you can hit the ground running from day one.

Our mantra

At Sew Curious, our mantra is “nurture, inspire, create”.

This mantra encapsulates our nurturing and encouraging approach to teaching, our determination to

help build your confidence and inspire you to try new things, and the end result of this process,

which is to help you create amazing sewn projects that you’re proud to share with friends and family

with the comment, “I made this!”.

Join us for a sewing lesson today to experience our “nurture, inspire, create” approach for yourself.
