THE ORIGINAL BLIKKEN HUT 

February 2021. As many were impacted by Covid-19,  the quirky, charming ‘tin hut’ (‘blikken hut’ in Dutch)  on South Loudoun Street in Lovettsville Virginia, was turned into a flexible work and event space, and rapidly became a home away from home for small businesses and individuals alike. By keeping it simple, flexible, and welcoming at the same time, the original ‘tin hut’ was able to give the co-working business model a unique spin. 

 

Inspired by the community’s interest in not only affordable and flexible commercial real estate space, but also the need and interest to (re)connect, share and support each other, the idea of expanding on the ‘Going Dutch’ business model was born.

With access at your convenience, many of our community members are now using this unique facility for a myriad of pop-up, professional and private group events, meetings, classes, and workshops.

DE WINKEL

March 2022.  As the world around us seemed to keep looking for the next 'battle', we opened up another home away from home to our Blikken Hut community in downtown Berryville (originally called Battletown) Virginia, on 11 S Church Street.

​

Similar to the quirky, charming 'tin hut' in Lovettsville Virginia, we started sharing Blikken Hut space 'De Winkel' (Dutch for 'The Store') as flexible work & pop-up event space. With its large display windows, De Winkel's front space quickly became full-time rented as a storefront and an opportunity to be 'on display',  where as the large back space is being used as flexible (co)work and pop-up event space for the local community.
